The Swiss replica Hublot, a subsidiary of LVMH, has just announced the launch of the second version of the connected watch in its Big Bang range. With this Big Bang E, the fine watchmaking house wants to offer a smartwatch that brings together the best of both worlds: cutting-edge materials and new technologies. Successful bet ?

Two years after the launch of its first connected watch, unveiled during the Football World Cup in Russia, the new Big Bang E aims to be more modern and innovative. Using a Wear OS system created by Google, it firstly differentiates itself from other smartwatches on the market by integrating a 42 mm diameter case in black ceramic or titanium in a sandwich structure, a style invented by Hublot in 2005.
“It brings together 42 components, including 27 for the K module alone, constituting the “cage” which contains the digital heart of the watch. The design of its screws and pushers, the scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and its rubber strap, equipped with a buckle designed by Hublot in 1980 for the Classic model and the patented One Click system for easy interchangeability, each of its elements reveal without a shadow of a doubt its identity: a real Big Bang! », Specifies the brand in a press release.
Still on the design side, the rotating crown of the smartwatch has an integrated pusher which allows you to control the functions of its operating system. Its 30.8 mm diameter screen is AMOLED and capable of displaying a resolution of 390 x 390 pixels for a definition of 327 dpi. Enough to allow it to be used both indoors and outdoors in direct sunlight.
Technically up to date
Waterproof up to 30 meters, the Hublot Big Bang E is also packed with sensors: accelerometer, gyroscope, vibration motor, ambient light sensor, optical tracking sensor but also and above all Bluetooth 4.2 BLE (low consumption) for compatibility with Android smartphones and iPhones, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and NFC for contactless payments. Added to this list is a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor, 1 GB of ROM memory and 8 GB of Flash memory to store music, among other things.
The Lithium-Ion battery with a capacity of 300 mAh finally allows it to have an announced autonomy of only around one day in continuous use, with a wait of 2.5 hours before a full charge. It is possible to recharge the smartwatch by induction (wireless charging). Finally, still on the software level, Hublot has chosen to add different dials to its smartwatch to use complications similar to those of the brand’s mechanical replica watches: perpetual calendar with moon phase, second time zone… The Swiss manufacturer has even natively integrated a series of eight dials, created by the artist Marc Ferrero, which scroll automatically every 3 hours (photo opposite).
Hublot’s Big Bang E will soon be marketed at a price of €5,100 in the titanium version or €5,700 in the ceramic version.
