Vacheron Constantin presents a new addition to its flagship dress watch line, Traditionnelle.
Since its founding in 1755, Vacheron Constantin has sought to harmonize watchmaking and high jewelry. Even when creating pocket watches, replica Vacheron Constantin added stones, pearls, and enamel to pursue both technical and aesthetic demands. Later, in close collaboration with Verger Frères, a French company founded in 1872, several high jewelry watches were created. The most notable of these was the Kallista, which was launched in 1979. Kallista, which means “Most Beautiful” in Greek, was designed by French artist Raymond Moretti. The watch is set with 118 emerald-cut diamonds weighing 130 carats, living up to its name. It is said that the process of cutting and assembling the stones alone took five years and around 6,000 hours to complete the piece. Following the success of the Kalista, the successor Kalla was introduced the following year, followed by the Lady Kalla in 2001, the Kalla Lune in 2007, the Lady Kalla Flame in 2010, and the Grande Lady Kalla in 2024. The history of Vacheron Constantin’s High Jewellery watches is ongoing. The new model continues the brand’s history of High Jewellery watches on the Traditionnelle Tourbillon.
The dial is centered around a giant Maltese cross at 6 o’clock, with 158 baguette-cut diamonds, like the seats of an opera house. Even the flanges are set with diamonds. Every part of the watch, including the dial, is covered in diamonds using the invisible setting technique (a technique in which the stones are fixed without a support). This makes the diamonds shine even more brilliantly. The hands are made of white gold, and the logo temporarily moves to the glass to make way for the diamonds. At the bottom of the dial is the Maltese cross tourbillon, the symbol of Vacheron Constantin.
The case also shows off its diamond presence. The 41mm white gold case is densely set with a total of 144 diamonds, including the lugs. The crown is also set with 16 baguette-cut diamonds. Therefore, when looking at it from the front, it is filled with diamonds without any empty space, to the point that it is difficult to tell even what the case is made of. The side is also seamlessly connected with diamonds from the middle case to the lugs. There is no missing diamond on the top of the crown either. It is said that a special cutting technique was used to enable gem settings to fit the gaps of the polished Maltese cross. The strap is made of dark gray crocodile leather. The buckle is a deployant type made of white gold. The buckle is also set with diamonds, so no part is missed. Thanks to this, the watch uses over 300 diamonds, a total of 27 carats.
The movement is the in-house automatic tourbillon caliber 2160 (2.5 Hz, power reserve 80 hours). Despite being an automatic tourbillon, the movement is only 5.65 mm thick thanks to the peripheral rotor. The 22K peripheral rotor is ornately decorated with the Clous de Paris pattern. The back is entirely treated with Côtes de Genève (Geneva stripes), and the bridges are hand-chamfered. Even the invisible plates are perlaged. In keeping with the movement’s luxurious finish, it has received the Hallmark of Geneva certification.
